| 1 | teaspoon | monosodium glutamate | |
| 1 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | teaspoon | bay leaves | crushed, put in tea ball |
| 4 | each | cloves | put in tea ball |
| 1 | teaspoon | oregano | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | cumin | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | rosemary leaves | crushed |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | celery seeds | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | thyme | ground |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | marjoram | ground |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | basil | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | curry powder | |
| 1 | cup | sherry |
Soak beans overnight.
Add all other ingredients except sherry and bring to boil.
Cook slowly until beans are tender.
Add Sherry.
