Ingredients

3 cups pinto beans dried
2 cups ham cubed
2 cups water
22 ounces tomato juice
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups onions chopped
3 cloves garlic minced
3 tablespoons parsley leaves chopped
1/4 cup green bell pepper chopped
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon monosodium glutamate
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon bay leaves crushed, put in tea ball
4 each cloves put in tea ball
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon rosemary leaves crushed
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
1/2 teaspoon thyme ground
1/2 teaspoon marjoram ground
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1 cup sherry

Directions

Soak beans overnight.

Add all other ingredients except sherry and bring to boil.

Cook slowly until beans are tender.

Add Sherry.
