When your cat turns up their nose at everything in the pet aisle, it’s time to hit the kitchen.

This bland diet is exactly what the vet ordered for finicky eaters or kitties with upset stomachs: plain boiled chicken mixed with steamed broccoli and carrots, bound together with just enough chicken broth to hold it all in place.

No seasoning, no additives, nothing that would upset a sensitive feline tummy.

It takes minutes to throw together and stores easily in the fridge for a few days.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use plain, unseasoned chicken broth with no onion or garlic, both of which are toxic to cats.
  • Chop or shred the chicken and vegetables into small, cat-bite-sized pieces.
  • Let the mixture cool completely before serving. Cats won’t eat food that’s too hot.

Variations

  • Swap the chicken for broiled or microwaved white fish (like cod or tilapia) for variety.
  • Add a spoonful of plain cooked rice for extra bulk and easier digestion.
  • Try steamed green beans or pumpkin puree in place of the broccoli if your cat prefers them.
