| 1 | pound | lard | |
| 1 | cup | sugar | |
| 2 | each | egg yolks | |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking powder | |
| 3 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | anise | |
| 1/2 | cup | milk |
Cream lard or shortening and sugar together.
Beat in egg yolks one at a time.
Mix in flour and baking powder, then flavorings and milk.
Roll out on floured board and cut in shapes.
Bake for 15 minutes.

My husband and I have made this recipe at Christmas, and in the summer for years. It is very light and delicious and always a big hit. It is time consuming to make, but well worth the work.
