This isn’t your squeeze-bottle barbecue sauce. Not even close.

Chili sauce and beer form the base, but the real curveball? Sliced pimento-stuffed green olives that add a salty, briny bite you won’t see coming but absolutely won’t forget.

Butter rounds everything out with richness, and the whole thing simmers together in just 5 minutes.

Slather it on grilled steaks, brush it over burgers, or use it as a dipping sauce for smoked brisket.

Pro Tips

  • Use a full-bodied lager or amber ale for the best depth of flavor. Light beer won’t contribute much.
  • Let the sauce cool slightly before brushing on meat. It thickens as it rests and clings better.
  • This sauce keeps well in the fridge for up to a week. The flavors actually improve after a day or two.
