| 1 | cup | tea | hot strong |
| 1/2 | cup | dates | chopped |
| 1/2 | cup | mixed peel | chopped |
| 1 | cup | raisins, seedless | washed |
| 1 | cup | brown sugar | |
| 1 | each | egg | beaten |
| 2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking powder | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | baking soda | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | salt |
Pour tea over fruit and sugar and let stand over-night.
Next morning stir in egg, then flour, baking powder, soda and salt sifted together.
Turn into greased loaf pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours at 300F.
Turn onto wire rack to cool. To serve, slice and butter.

Turmeric is what gives curry it's brilliant colour. Now it may be protecting children against leukemia......
These were great! Very tasty. Best of all, my 8 year old daughter and her friend made them from start to finish. All I did was melt the butter...
