Sometimes genius is simple.

Take a hot dog bun, slather it with peanut butter and jelly, tuck a whole banana inside, and hand it to a kid running out the door. Ten minutes, zero cooking, maximum smiles.

It’s basically a PB&J banana sandwich that fits in one hand. A splash of lemon juice on the banana keeps it from browning if you’re packing it ahead.

Variations

  • Swap jelly for Nutella and sliced strawberries
  • Use almond butter or sunflower seed butter for a nut-free school-safe version
  • Add a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of granola for extra crunch
