| 1 | tablespoon | canola oil | |
| 1 3/4 | pounds | red onions | 2 large or 3 medium, cut into 16 wedges each |
| 1 | pound | green beans | freshly trimmed |
| 3/4 | cup | broth | vegetable, low-salt |
| 1 1/2 | tablespoons | balsamic vinegar | |
| 2 | teaspoons | brown sugar, light | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | x | black pepper | freshly ground to taste |
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, bring a large saucepan of lightly salted water to a boil.
Add green beans and cook, uncovered, until crisp and tender, about 7 minutes. Drain.
Add vegetable broth to the onions; cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
Stir in balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, salt and pepper.
Add the beans, cover and cook for 4 to 6 minutes.
Serve.
Great recipe, I made this recipe and served it with smashed potatoes, and they were perfect together, delicious and easy too. Yes, at least four star recipe.

Really easy, really good! A little salty for my taste--I'd suggest using 1/2 the salt. My kids liked it without the cream sauce.
