30 minWhen you need a crowd-pleasing side dish and you need it fast, this baked bean casserole delivers.
Canned baked beans in molasses get mixed with minced onion, ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar, then topped with crumbled crispy bacon and heated until the sauce goes bubbly and thick.
The whole thing comes together in the microwave in about 15 minutes, making this a lifesaver for weeknight dinners, potlucks, and backyard cookouts when oven space is at a premium.
Variations
- With Franks: Toss in 6 sliced hot dogs for a quick, kid-friendly main dish.
- With Ham: Add 4 thick slices of ham and heat an extra 2 minutes for a heartier version.
Kitchen Tips
- Crisp the bacon first on paper towels so it stays crunchy on top instead of going soggy in the sauce.
- Stir the ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar in well so every bean gets coated.
