This traditional Aran loaf fills your kitchen with the scent of warm spices and sweet raisins as it bakes to golden perfection.

The combination of all-purpose and whole wheat flours creates tender crumb, while corn syrup and butter keep it moist for days.

Mixed spice (equal parts cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice) gives that classic Irish warmth.

Slice it thick for breakfast with butter and jam, or serve alongside afternoon tea.

Pro Tips

  • Make your own mixed spice by combining equal parts cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice
  • Melt butter with syrup over low heat to prevent scorching
  • Test doneness with a toothpick inserted in the center
  • Let the loaf cool slightly before slicing for cleaner cuts
