These simple bars come together fast with pantry staples, using apple butter as both sweetener and moisture for tender, chewy texture.

Oats and coconut add substance and texture, while brown sugar creates caramel notes that complement the apple spice.

Just cream, stir, spread, and bake for 20 minutes.

Dust with powdered sugar while warm for bakery vibes, or leave plain for less-sweet snacking that works in school lunches or afternoon coffee breaks.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use good apple butter: It’s the main flavor; homemade or quality store-bought makes a difference
  • Don’t overbake: Bars should be just set; overbaking makes them dry
  • Cool completely before cutting: Warm bars crumble; cooled bars slice clean
  • Store airtight: These stay moist for days in a sealed container

Variations

  • Add a handful of raisins or dried cranberries for chewy fruit bits
  • Mix in chopped walnuts or pecans for nutty crunch
  • Drizzle with vanilla glaze instead of powdered sugar for sweeter treat
