80 minFour cups of chopped apples make this sheet cake impossibly moist, almost like apple pie in cake form.
The lemon frosting cuts through the sweetness with bright citrus notes.
Cinnamon weaves through every bite while walnuts add satisfying crunch.
Kitchen Tips
- Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for complex flavor
- Chop apples into small pieces so they distribute evenly throughout batter
- Add water to frosting slowly; you can always thin it but can’t thicken it easily
- This cake actually tastes better the next day as flavors meld
