Ingredients

2cups flour, all-purpose
2/3cup sugarVideo
1/2cup wheat germ
2teaspoons baking powderVideo
1/2teaspoon baking sodaVideo
1teaspoon salt
1teaspoon cinnamonVideo
1/4teaspoon cloves
1/4teaspoon nutmeg
1cup applesauce
1/2cup raisins, seedless
1tablespoon orange zest grated
1/2cup orange juice unsweetened
1each eggVideo
1tablespoon vegetable oil

Directions

If wheat germ is not available, use bran or whole wheat flour.

Sift dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Stir in apple sauce, raisins and orange rind. Combine orange juice, egg and vegetable oil, add to batter, stirring just until moistened.

Spoon into lightly oiled 8 inch square cake pan. Bake 50 minutes at 350F or until cake tests done.
