1 Pie
suggest servings
| 1 | each | pie shell (9 inch) | double crust |
| Filling | |||
| 6 | cups | apples | peeled and sliced thin |
| 3/4 | cup | sugar | |
| 1/4 | cup | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1 | teaspoon | cinnamon | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 2 | tablespoons | butter | |
| Topping | |||
| 1/4 | cup | butter | |
| 1/2 | cup | brown sugar | packed firmly |
| 2 | tablespoons | cream, half and half | |
| 1/2 | cup | pecans | chopped |
Prepare pie crusts for a 2-crust pie.
Heat oven to 350F.
In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt; toss lightly.
Spoon into crust lined pan.
Dot with butter. Top with second crust and flute the edges; cut slits in several places.
Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
Remove from oven.
Topping: In a small saucepan melt the butter or margarine, stir in brown sugar and half-and-half.
Slowly bring to a boil; remove from heat. Stir in pecans.
Spread over the top of the pie.
Place pie on a baking sheet and return to 350 oven; bake an additional 5 minutes or until topping bubbles.
Cool at least 1 hour before serving.

I made all Hawaiian food and this was with it. I loved smelling this cooking throughout the house, and it was divine. I froze two of the loaves, because I was told do not give it away, save it. *S* Oh well will have to make double next time.
