| 1 1/2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | baking powder | |
| 1 Stick (1/2 | cup) | butter | or margarine, at room temperature |
| 1 | cup | powdered sugar | |
| 1 | large | eggs | |
| 1 | teaspoon | lemon zest | |
| 1 | can | dried apple slices | |
| 1/2 | cup | golden raisins | |
| 1 | teaspoon | cinnamon | ground |
| 1 | x | powdered sugar | for garnish |
Heat oven to 350~ F.
Grease an 11x7-inch baking pan. Mix flour and baking powder.
In a large bowl, beat butter and confectioners' sugar with electric mixer until pale and fluffy.
Beat in egg and lemon peel.
With mixer on low speed, gradually add flour mixture.
Remove 2/3 cup dough.
With floured fingers, pat remaining dough over bottom of prepared pan.
Spread apple slices mixed with golden raisins and ground cinnamon.
Spread over dough, using a rubber spatula to break up apples if needed to cover dough.
Roll remaining dough into long ropes and lay diagonally across filling to create a lattice effect.
Bake 30 minutes or until top is golden brown.
Cool in pan.
Dust with confectioners' sugar before cutting.

I found this recipe to be quite the eat. It had lovely texture the way I made it, which was using slightly more buttermilk than was needed.
