20 minThis showstopper presentation turns a single apple into an edible flower.
The whole apple marinates in citrus juices for hours until the flavors penetrate deep, then gets sliced almost to the bottom into eight sections that fan out like petals.
A chunky applesauce mixture spiked with raisins and celery fills the center for crunch and sweetness without added sugar.
Kitchen Tips
- Use a crisp, firm apple variety like Fuji or Gala that holds its shape during marinating
- Prick the apple skin all over with a fork before marinating so the citrus can penetrate
- Make sure your apple is completely submerged in the juice mixture while it chills
- This makes a stunning individual salad presentation for special occasions or holiday meals
