60 minThis dessert stacks flavors like a parfait but bakes them together. A crumbly whole wheat and oat mixture presses into the pan and bakes until set, creating a firm base for the butterscotch pudding layer.
Canned apple pie filling gets brightened with fresh lemon zest and juice, then spreads over the pudding. The remaining crumbs scatter on top.
Everything bakes together until the crumbs turn golden and the layers meld. Serve it warm with ice cream, or chill it completely for cleaner slices.
Assembly Tips
- Pre-bake the crust layer for 10 minutes before adding filling
- Make butterscotch pudding with only 1¼ cups milk for thicker consistency
- Mix lemon zest and juice into apple pie filling before spreading
- Bake 30-35 minutes at 350°F until top crumbs are golden
