| 1/2 | pounds | ground pork | |
| 1/2 | pounds | ground beef | |
| 1 | each | egg | |
| 1/2 | cups | rice, brown | uncooked |
| 1 | each | onion | diced fine |
| 1/2 | teaspoons | thyme leaves | |
| 8 | cups | water | |
| 1 | each | tomato | chopped |
| 1 | each | garlic clove | diced |
| 1/2 | cups | chili powder | |
| 2 | each | yerba buena | or mint, fresh leaves |
| 1 | thick | bread, french | sliced |
| 1/2 | teaspoons | cumin | |
| 2 | each | carrots | sliced thin |
| 1 | cup | green peas | fresh or frozen |
Mix pork, beef, egg, rice, 1/2 of onion, and thyme together; make into small balls. Bring water to boil and add balls; simmer at low boil for 1 hour.
Add tomato, garlic, chili, and rest of chopped onion; let simmer 35 minutes. Add yerba buena and simmer 10 minutes. Soak french bread in small amount of soup broth until very soft. Place in blender with cumin; chop together; add to soup.
Next add carrots and peas; simmer until vegetables are tender. Serve.

Recently I was recruited to do the cooking for a friend's birthday party. There were thirty guests expected. I was given only one directive...
I've now made this receipe 4 times in the past 2 weeks. Friends just raved over the wonder aroma and deep flavors. I upped the amount of ginger for even more exotic flavor. This is the BEST crab I've ever had. Go for it!!!
