Brown ground beef with onions until the meat loses its pink and the onions soften, then stir in tomato sauce, diced bell pepper, chili powder, hot sauce, salt, and pepper.

Add water until the sauce reaches your preferred thickness and simmer 15 to 30 minutes.

Sprinkle in cornmeal during the last quarter-hour and stir to thicken the chili into hearty, spoonable consistency.

Directions

Brown meat; add onion and sauté well.

Add tomato sauce, seasonings, bell pepper, and chilli powder, salt, and pepper to taste.

Add water until sauce is of desired thickness.

Simmer 15 to 30 minutes.

During last 15 minutes of cooking, sprinkle in corn meal and stir.
