Some experience professionally. Inspired by my mothers baking and early work experiences in an excellent bakery and also a full-scale deli/catering business. Living in a town where tourist paid the bills, I learned the value of service. As an adult I have done catering and event foods as well as owned a small restaurant where the food quality was excellent and fun. I love great presentation and great flavor--like I am sure we all do.

  • Lacy Oatmeal Cookies

This is a great recipe and it's is so simple. I changed it up a bit. I substituted almonds and left some of them fairly chunky. I also added dried diced apricots to the dry ingredients along with about 1/2 cup sesame seeds. After cooling I added some melted dark chocolate and dropped a bit on top of each cookie. I then added a sliver of dry apricot to rest on top of the chocolate. They looked smashing and they had an excellent flavor.

Almond Coconut Twinkles - 1953 Winner

Wonderful recipe! I am taking this to a cookie exchange. I used sweetened chocolate in the frosting as the recipe didn't indicate unsweetened. They turned out great! Even my kids who hate coconut liked them, the coconut dissolved and the inside was chewy!
