Have made this several times, just noticed the contrary review which seems opposite my own and and the other reviewers experience. Find it hard to fathom tossing it out since it's loaded with ingredients my whole family loves. To each their own, can only imagine some horribly wrong preparation technique; we will continue to make and enjoy this casserole every couple of months.

Excellent. There was a slight tartness from the apples and it's hard not to like the caramelized onion and bacon toppings. Very nice way to dress up plain mashed potatoes.

We used home-ground whole wheat flour, only a few tablespoons white flour, and these scones puffed a lot! Inside moist and cheesy and outside golden and brown, if you want the shape more like biscuits, you can flatten scones a little bit before baking. The flavor is just delicious!
