Region Produced: California

Traditional Uses: Chili Powder is used in Southwestern and Mexican-type cooking. It's a prominent ingredient of chili con carne, and is also used to season eggs, shellfish, cheese dishes, and stews. Manufacturers use chili powder in processed Mexican foods, sausages, and pork and beans.

Aroma/Taste: Chives have a mild, onion-like flavor, with a hint of garlic.

History: Chives grow wild in both the Old and the New World. They have probably been used since ancient times, but they have only been cultivated since the Middle Ages.

Storage: Store in cool, dark, dry places.

Ideas: Chives make an attractive garnish for many savory foods. With a delicate onion flavor, Chives won't overpower the flavor of fish.

Chicken Fondue in Ginger Broth

This is a great recipe! I served it as a main dish rather than an appetizer and everyone loved it. I was worried the chicken would be bland, but it was very flavorful and light. So many meat fondue recipes use alot of oil so it was great to find such a healthy recipe. The veggies were great too.
